Faq’s for PRK Is there any age bar for undergoing laser eye surgeries? Patients above 18 years and with a stable number for at least 2 years can undergo laser treatments. Is there a need for hospitalisation before or after PRK? No admission required. You can leave within 5 – 10 min of your laser treatment. How much time does the PRK examination and treatment take? 2 -3 hours of pre-laser testing and 5 – 10 min of laser treatment. Will I be able to move around on my own after PRK? Your vision is blurred for a few days so you might end up using help at home and outdoors. For how many days will I have to take rest after PRK? Depends on your work profile. Usually we advise 3 days of complete rest and 7 days of recovery period. Is it a permanent treatment or does it need to be repeated periodically? This is a permanent treatment although high spectacle numbers might demand a 2nd time. Will I be able to wear cosmetic contact lenses and eye makeup? You can resume your eye makeup and eye brow shaping 15 days after the treatment. Contact lenses can be worn only 1 month after the treatment. Will I be required to sit in a dark room after the laser treatment? No we do not advise you to sit in a dark room. Average amount of light is alright. In fact you can start watching TV, reading, etc. on the 4th day itself (if the eye feels comfortable). Are there any diet restrictions? No. You can enjoy your normal diet.
